Cast aluminum heat exchanger used in the MACH boiler.

MACH

The MACH is Patterson-Kelley’s most compact condensing boiler. It features a thick-walled sectional heat exchanger made from cast aluminum, which is 7-13 times more thermally conductive and nearly 3 times lighter than the stainless steel alloys that are commonly used in condensing boilers. This allowed PK to create a boiler that is efficient, durable, and maneuverable for installations in tight spaces. The larger models come factory fitted with rubber caster wheels so that any size of MACH boiler can be moved into a mechanical room with ease.

As of 2019, all MACH boilers from 750-2000 MBH now come standard with 10:1 mechanical turndown. Unlike most other commercial condensing boiler manufacturers, Patterson-Kelley achieves high turndown ratios without increasing the percentage of excess air at low firing rates. Through their unique control strategy, a wide modulation range is available without compromising the boiler’s combustion efficiency or ability to condense.

For ultra-tight installations, Patterson-Kelley offers the innovative “Mach N’ Roll” package which integrates a complete domestic hot water production system into the bottom compartment of the boiler’s cabinet, allowing for single-point heating and DHW connections with a unified, easy to use control interface.

SONIC

The SONIC boiler covers a capacity range of 650-4000 MBH and features a compact watertube heat exchanger made from 300 series stainless steel. It is thoughtfully designed to allow for easy maintenance. The SONIC is also available as a domestic water heater (650-1000 MBH). Like all current PK boilers, it features the intuitive and highly capable PK NURO control platform.

STORM

The STORM is Patterson-Kelley’s latest condensing boiler model, featuring a low-profile helical watertube heat exchanger made from 316L stainless steel. This new design offers a very low water-side pressure drop for reduced pump size requirements, as well as an innovative hinged furnace door for unbelievably easy access to the burner and fire-side surfaces so that regular maintenance and inspection can be carried out in rapid fashion. All sizes (1250-2000 MBH) have a 10:1 turndown ratio using PK’s unique mechanical turndown strategy.

Modu-Fire and Thermific Velox

For installations that are constrained by limited floor space, venting limitations, or higher water temperature requirements, the Modu-Fire and Thermific Velox are an easy solution at a budget-friendly price point. Both models share the same vertical copper finned tube heat exchanger, and both are also available as domestic water heaters. The Modu-Fire uses a fully modulating burner with a 5:1 turndown ratio and near-condensing efficiency; requiring category IV stainless steel venting. The Velox variant modulates with a 2:1 turndown ratio and is approved as a category I appliance, with B-vent listed as an acceptable material. This means that in many retrofit scenarios, the existing stack can be re-used, which is a tremendous advantage. As a bonus, the Velox is still 85.0% efficient, making it eligible for a rebate ($4 per MBH) under FortisBC’s efficient boiler program! Both the Modu-Fire and Velox models feature the PK NURO control as standard.
