Maxi-therm is an innovative Quebec-based manufacturer of packaged steam heat exchanger systems. They can use steam to power an HVAC hot water loop, generate instantaneous domestic hot water, generate clean steam, or even pure steam (WFI).
Their unique, patented design allows one to completely eliminate a large number of expensive, high maintenance ancillary components that are normally required with conventional steam-to-liquid heat exchange systems, while also reducing maintenance costs and improving plant efficiency by up to 15%. The installed footprint is also dramatically reduced compared to a conventional system.
As shown on the diagram, the vertical flooded heat exchanger design eliminates the need for a pressure reducing station, relief valves, steam control valves, flash tank, or condensate lift pumps.
Rather than controlling steam flow to maintain the process setpoint, Maxi-therm’s design controls the condensate level within the heat exchanger using a small liquid control valve. By sub-cooling the condensate, flash losses are eliminated and radiation losses are reduced, resulting in a significant boost in efficiency.
All Maxi-therm systems are 100% packaged solutions including a comprehensive touchscreen control platform that is compatible with BACnet and other BMS systems. Single-point system connections are standard; field assembly is not required.
